Charlotte Betry | One Year Website Celebration

Need some good news in your life? Well, call us Pizza Hut because we're delivering!

Today we are celebrating the 1-year mark of Charlotte Betry's website!

When we asked Charlotte to share her experience with us, we were absolutely blown away by the results. And we bet that you will be, too. ;) Check out her interview below to find out about all of the opportunities her website has provided her with in 2020!

1). Tell us about yourself! What do you do? I am a professional flutist, private instructor, and college professor living in Los Angeles. My passion is for building relationships and sharing connections through performing and teaching. I am currently serving as President of the Music Teachers Association of California, Pasadena Branch where I have the opportunity to work with a community of like minded musicians looking to enhance the musical opportunities for our students and within our community. 2). What are 3-5 words you would use to describe yourself and your brand? Animated, classy, fun, kind 3). Why did you want a new website?

I wanted to be able to create a central location that brought together everything that defines me as a musician. My hope is that my website equally shows my love of performing, teaching, serving my community, and spreading kindness and joy. 4). What differences have you noticed now that you’ve had your new website for a whole year? This has been a very interesting year to launch a website. When I initially approached Taylor, my main goal was to focus on building my site specifically with performance opportunities in mind. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit I was concerned that my website would be unable to serve this purpose, however, over the last year I have received several inquiries via my website contact page requesting remote recordings and the majority of these requests have come from composers that I did not previously know. Without the development of my website I doubt I would have had nearly as much recording work this past year and am so thankful that this platform provided me the opportunity to build new relationships with other musicians and continue to share music with others.

Additionally, my blog post "Setting Up Your Tax Binder for a Smooth Tax Season" has gained attraction resulting in invitations to speak with various college studio classes this past fall semester. Having the opportunity to offer my experience and the knowledge I've gathered on this subject has been one of the highlights of my year and I look forward to being able to share more on my blog soon. :) 5). What’s your favorite part about your new site? I love how much my website captures my personality! From the color scheme to the squiggly font I feel like it conveys a lot of my personality within the details. My absolute favorite part would definitely be the logo Taylor designed. 6). If you had to give anyone advice about going through the website design process, what would you tell them?

It's very important to do your research before beginning the creative process. Take time to establish what you want to convey to your audience through your website and the services you have to offer to your community. Research other websites both in and out of your field to gain ideas, inspiration, and to help develop general ideas prior to your first meeting. Taylor at NR Media did such a wonderful job of guiding me through the process and helping to affirm my creative choices while also providing an array of ideas that I otherwise would not have thought to include and ended up being the polishing details that really brought my website together. Do your research, establish a game plan, trust your designers, and don't be afraid to try something new and out of the box!
